Founded in 2004 by veteran coffee pioneer George Howell, George Howell Coffee seeks out the finest single-estate and single-origin coffees on earth from top quality farmers, roasts to precision, and above all, aims to deliver the ultimate cup of coffee to their customers. Farmers are George Howell’s key partners. Behind every cup of coffee there is a farm with growers who share the same drive and dedication for their craft. In an effort to nurture these relationships, George and his daughter Jenny travel yearly to many of the farms as well as other coffee producing areas.
These top-quality coffees are only harvested once a year. George pioneered freezing green coffee in order to halt the raw beans’ natural aging process at their peak of maturity and preserve their natural sweetness. Storage of raw green coffee is essential to maintaining the freshest-tasting coffee all year long, and because of it, we’re able to offer the unique experience of exceptional vintages.
George Howell Coffee operates three Boston-area cafes as well as a roastery located in Acton, MA. They host weekly educational and interactive classes at the cafes, offer brewing equipment demos and purchasing, and have over 30 different coffees to brew at home. Coffee, brewers, scales, mugs, grinders, and more are available to purchase at our cafes or on their website. Along with full-time coffees they offer Limited Roasts: rare and exceptional lots that are roasted in small batches and change weekly.
