  • Truffle Making Workshop with Taza Chocolate (with Wine!)

    Chocolate and wine - the ultimate pairing! First, our Taza chocolate chef will teach attendees how to make dark chocolate ganache from scratch using stonegrown chocolate and farm-fresh cream. Then, Taza will join forces with the experts at the Massachusetts Wine Shop to lead the group through a mini wine and chocolate tasting & pairing class of four different wines and four chocolate flavors. And last, we'll roll decadent dark chocolate truffles by hand-made with chilled dark Taza ganache and dip them in four to five different toppings.

  • Coffee, The Long Road to Quality

    This 2.5-hour interactive seminar is intended to give consumers an understanding of what actually goes into creating quality coffee, from farm to cup. It is meant to empower consumers by informing their palates as well as their minds. Multiple coffee tastings will give participants a new understanding of the taste differences between six regions of the world, new crop versus past crop, ripe versus unripe (same farm) and natural versus washed (Ethiopia, same region).

  • New Entry Community Food Systems Conference & Reception

    Join us at New Entry Sustainable Farming Project's Community Food Systems Conference! The conference will be held December 5 - 7 at the Boston Park Plaza. This conference will address common underlying themes between food security, social justice and sustainable agriculture including obstacles in urban and rural environments and fostering community empowerment to create and sustain resilient local food systems. It will bring together leaders in, and advocates of, food security, sustainable agriculture and social justice movements to discuss their range of perspectives, how these areas overlap, and how to support one another’s work. Conference highlights include: • Keynote speaker, Winona LaDuke, award-winning environmentalist and political activist working and residing on the White Earth reservation in Northern Minnesota; founder of White Earth Land Recovery Project and the Indigenous Women’s Network; and active author and speaker • Plenary session with Malik Yakini (Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Detroit Black Community Food Security Network), Aleya Fraser (Farmer & Educator, founder of Black Dirt Farm Collective), Suzanne Adely (Northeast Regional  Organizer at Food Chain Workers Alliance, a lead organization of the HEAL Food Alliance) and moderated by Andy Fisher, Co-Founder of the Community Food Security Coalition and author of Big Hunger • 50+ workshops, lightning talks, and networking sessions focused on food justice, policy, best practices, experiential education, sustainability, economic development, building community, and promoting access to healthy food in underserved communities. • Exhibit hall for leading non-profit, academic, business and government organizations in the community food field. • Field trips to see community food systems work in action at various Boston-area organizations. • Pre-conference trainings and forums geared toward targeted audiences for delving deeper into specific food systems work. • Meals featuring locally-grown foods and a reception at Boston Public Market.

  • Seasonal Floral Workshop with Stow Greenhouses

    This fall, Barbara Rietscha, owner of Field and Vase by Stow Greenhouses, will be leading a series of hands-on floral design classes. Each class features locally grown, seasonal, and fresh-cut flowers artfully chosen so each participant can create their own unique and lovely bouquet. Join us to learn the basic techniques of floral design, color composition and care instructions. While you design your arraignment, you will be treated to a wine tasting of three different wines by Alan Howarth of the Massachusetts Wine Shop. You will also sample cheeses from local Massachusetts farms, compliments of Appleton Farms.

  • "Aw Shucks" Hands-on Raw Bar with Red's Best

    Join us in The KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market for a culinary experience that celebrates New England fishermen and seafood and Massachusetts wineries. This event is hosted in partnership with Red's Best and will be paired with wine tastings from the Massachusetts Wine Shop. “Aw, Shucks” Hands-on Raw Bar combines two of our favorite things: fresh shellfish and wine. Red’s Best will supply their fresh, local and sustainably-caught oysters, clams, and a variety of seasonal shellfish. One of their expert shuckers and seafood aficionados will guide participants through a shucking lesson. Everyone will get eat their fill of these raw delicious and will add “oyster shucking” to their list of new skills!

Making cheese at home is easy – and we can prove it! Kids will learn to separate curds from whey and will create fresh ricotta from scratch. We’ll also talk about fermentation, friendly bacteria, and how all our favorite cheeses (blue, brie, cheddar) are made. We’ll use our handmade ricotta on Levend Bagels to make pizza bagels.
