We’re Expanding to Logan Airport!

New Market Will Provide Fresh, Locally Sourced Food to Travelers

BOSTON (August 1, 2018) — After nearly three years of operation and 6 million visitors welcomed through the doors, the Boston Public Market will be opening a second location with global restaurateur HMSHost and airport concessions developer and manager MarketPlace Logan in Boston Logan International Airport’s Terminal C. An anticipated opening is set for spring 2019. The 6,000-square-foot outpost at Logan will reflect the same mission and high quality food as BPMA’s flagship market at 100 Hanover Street and supply Logan Airport’s more than 30 million annual travelers with fresh, locally-sourced food from Massachusetts and New England for breakfast, lunch, and dinner; including sandwiches, soup, snacks, a “make your own” salad bar, a full-service bar, and more. The market will feature several food entrepreneurs currently operating at 100 Hanover Street.

“Since the Boston Public Market launched in 2015, we have been overwhelmed by the community’s positive response and we’ve surpassed initial foot traffic metrics. We are thrilled to partner with HMSHost and MarketPlace to open a second location and expand our ability to provide fresh, local food to Boston area residents and travelers. We admire MassPort’s commitment to restructuring their food and beverage options to be healthier and more progressive as consumers want to feed their families simple, good food. It’s a privilege to represent Boston’s thriving, innovative food industry of producers, artisans, and chefs at Logan Airport,” said Cheryl Cronin, CEO of the Boston Public Market.

The BPM will be part of Logan Airport’s offerings based on lifestyle trends fueling the demand for healthier, local food at airports. BPM at the airport will be operated with HMSHost, a leading provider of food and beverage experiences for people on the move alongside airport concessions developer and manager MarketPlace Logan.

Similar to the Boston Public Market’s flagship market, a selection of local vendors will be represented in stall-style units surrounded by corrugated metal and salvaged barn board accents, a “HUB” center displaying Market news and promotions, and information about what’s happening at Boston Public Market locations.

“Boston Public Market is a leading example of modern dining trends and also speaks directly to traveler demands with a focus on bringing local, chef-inspired concepts into airports. HMSHost is excited to partner with the Boston Public Market to provide authentic tastes of New England and a unique dining experience for Boston Logan International Airport guests,” said Anthony Alessi, vice president of business development, HMSHost.

The Boston Public Market opened in July 2015 after more than a decade of planning and advocacy. In 2017 the Market welcomed more than 2.4 million visitors.
