Boston Public Market Debuts Chef Hero Program

Boston Public Market Debuts “CHEF HERO” Program

Monthly Collaborations Will Showcase the Boston Area’s Culinary Talent

BOSTON, MA (April, 2018) — The Boston Public Market (BPM), an indoor, year-round marketplace at 100 Hanover Street featuring 35 New England farmers, fishers, and food entrepreneurs, will debut its Chef Hero program in April 2018. In an effort to highlight the Boston area’s wide-ranging culinary talent, the Chef Hero initiative invites local chefs to partner with BPM vendors and engage with customers during monthly pop-up sampling events using BPM-sourced ingredients. The program also includes onsite sales of cookbooks and other restaurant merchandise, and an Instagram takeover to give BPM fans a look behind the scenes in each chef’s respective kitchen.

“Our mission at the Boston Public Market is to support our small business vendors, and much like the Boston chef community, they are entrepreneurs who are so important in growing our local food industry, economy, and culture. This program will bring chefs, BPM vendors, and our customers together around an appreciation of good food,” Cheryl Cronin, CEO of the Boston Public Market.

The monthly series will kick off in April with Matt Jennings of Boston’s Townsman, whose first cookbook, Homegrown: Cooking from My New England Roots, was recently nominated for a James Beard Award. On Monday night, April 23rd from 5-7pm, Chef Jennings will sample a dish from his cookbook at the BPM using proteins and produce from BPM vendors, including Red’s Best, Stillman’s Farm, and more. Chef Jennings’ printed recipe will be available for BPM shoppers to take home throughout the month, and his cookbook will be sold at the Info Desk, located in the Market’s southwest corner across from the Red Apple Farm space.
