Spring brings signature events, kids’ activities, Food Hub Forum, and art for all ages
BOSTON, March 31—April is here, and the Boston Public Market is showering you with events, celebrations, and
opportunities to engage with some of the best and brightest in the Boston food scene!
On April 3 we’re raising a glass (and fork) to female chefs in the restaurant industry. Join us for
Farm to Fork to Film, an evening of signature dishes, specialty cocktails, Q&A panel with
local chefs, and a sneak preview of Aliana Productions’ documentary A Fine Line.
Easter and Passover are perfect opportunities to make local food part of your
holiday table. Stock up on knishes, smoked fish, potatoes, and matzah ball soup (and don’t forget the wine for
Seder), or take advantage of Easter specials like ham, pastries, and
The Big Race is coming up, and nothing compares to nutrition-packed nourishment grown by your
local farmers to fuel you through the finish line. While you’re carbo-loading on freshly made bagels and pasta at
the Boston Public Market, show your Boston Athletic Association Runners’ Passport to receive discounts at
School Vacation Week (4/17-4/22) is around the corner, and we have a full schedule of hands-on
activities for all the young eaters and future chefs out there. Kids are invited to identify local fish species
with Red’s Best, make chocolate “dirt” pudding with Taza Chocolate, learn all about eggs and cook a Chestnut Farms
omelet, and so much more! There’s even a rumor that a furry farm friend may be paying us a visit…
Engage with us at our first annual Food Hub Forum (4/25), a
full day exploring Boston’s role as a hub in our regional food system. Discuss the evolution of the local food
movement with chefs and thought leaders, examine the challenges of urban production with innovators and
entrepreneurs, and network with developers, local officials, community partners, and like-minded individuals.
We then invite you to get your creative juices flowing during ArtWeek
Boston (4/28-5/7). Add your voice to The Key Idea exhibit in the Market, experience a guest
performance by the Boston Lyrical Opera, and enjoy live music and paintings by local artists.

Visit the KITCHEN at the Boston Public market, programmed by The Trustees, for an exciting lineup of culinary,
health, and wellness programs this month. The Trustees offers daily events and programs at the 3,300 square foot,
state-of- the art demonstration KITCHEN space. Programs are designed to connect Boston residents, commuters, and

The Popover Lady (all month): Popovers
made in small batches using fresh natural ingredients. Taste the changing selection, both sweet and savory as
well as classic original (and minis!).
Alex’s Ugly Sauce (all month): Small-batch
artisanal hot sauce made with Stillman’s Farm peppers.
Top Shelf Cookies (4/1-4/15): Handcrafted
artisan-style cookies ranging from classics like chocolate chip to varieties of beer-infused cookies all made
in Dorchester, MA.
Just Add Cooking (4/3-4/9): Meal kits
consisting of fresh, pre-measured ingredients sourced right here in New England, each one carefully packed and
delivered right to your home.
Baking with Joy (4/17-4/23): Tea breads,
cakes, cupcakes, cookies, muffins, bars and granola baked in Rockland, MA.
Cauldron Fermented Foods
(4/24-4/30): Boston’s first fermented food producers, making sauerkraut, pickles and other fermented
foods in Malden, MA.

MONDAY, APRIL 3:
Farm to Fork to Film (6:30-9:30pm): Aliana Productions invites you to an evening
celebrating female chefs in the restaurant industry. Watch a sneak preview of A Fine Line, then meet
local female chefs including Barbara Lynch, Jody Adams, Tiffani Faison, and Valerie James. Enjoy signature
dishes from Boston’s best restaurants, complimentary wine, beer and specialty cocktails, plus live jazz to
accentuate the film’s score.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 5:
$5 on the 5th at Stow Greenhouses: Treat yourself to a petit bouquet for just $5. A little something
to perk up your desk or counter. Get them while they last!
Lunchtime Knitting Circle with New England Farm to Fiber (every Wednesday; 12:30-1:30pm in the KITCHEN;
FREE): Join us for a weekly knitting group! We will meet for an hour of knitting, company, and lunch. BYO

Wine Down Wednesday at Mass Wine Shop (every Wednesday; 4-7pm): Every Wednesday Massachusetts

Floral Workshop with Stow Greenhouses (5:30-7pm in the KITCHEN): Barb Rietscha, owner of Stow
Greenhouses, will teach you the basic techniques of floral design, color composition, and care instructions.
While you design your arrangement, you will be treated to a wine tasting by Massachusetts Wine Shop and cheese
samples from Appleton Farms.

Egg Truffle Making Workshop with Taza Chocolate (2-3pm in the KITCHEN): Celebrate Easter with
Taza and the KITCHEN! Make decadent dark chocolate truffles by hand, and take home a dozen egg truffles to
enjoy. This is a family-friendly class – children 5+ are welcome with a parent.
APRIL SCHOOL VACATION WEEK | APRIL 17-22:
the KITCHEN (4/17-4/19 9:30-10:30am or 11am-12pm; 4/22 9:30-10:30am): Join us for hands-on
cooking classes to learn about local food and its journey from farm to table. Ages 6-12.
Day Chocolate Dirt Pudding (1-2pm or 2:30-3:30pm in the KITCHEN): What better way to
celebrate Earth Day than playing with dirt? Join Taza Chocolate for an Earth Day activity decorating a Taza
Chocolate Pudding – a fun and yummy way to celebrate the start of the spring growing season.
Bread Making 101 (5:30-7pm in the KITCHEN): Learn just how easy and satisfying it is to make
bread in your own home. Mix, knead, and shape your own loaf to bake at home. Kids age 5+ are welcome to attend
with an adult.
SATURDAY, APRIL 22:
Craft Beer Tasting (12-1:30pm or 1:30-3pm in the KITCHEN): Join Hopsters Alley and 10+ local
breweries (plus other Boston Public Market vendor for cheese and snacks) for a brew fest celebrating the local
beer companies that have revolutionized the industry and restored brewing as a neighborhood business.
Seafood Feast with Red’s Best (5-8pm in the KITCHEN): We’re teaming up with Red’s Best and
Chef Michael Rottman to provide a four-course cooking class highlighting sustainable seafood sourced right here
in New England.

(8:30am-7pm): Explore the role of Boston as a food hub in our regional food system and the innovation

On the Edge Knife Sharpening (10:30am-4:30pm): Bring your knives to the Market to have them expertly
sharpened by Patti. $10 for a small knife, $15 for a large knife.
ARTWEEK BOSTON | APRIL 28 - MAY 7:
Idea, an Interactive Exhibit for All Ages (4/28-5/7; FREE): You’re invited to add your voice
to this exhibit at the Boston Public Market during ArtWeek Boston. Come by, choose a key, create your own
KeyStory, and be inspired by the stories of people of all ages.
Boston Lyrical Opera Kids’ Storytelling Workshop (1:30-2:30pm; FREE): Children and families can join
in the fun as Boston Lyrical Opera shares songs and stories, lead theatrical games, and demonstrate the
importance of listening.
